In a recent Vanity Fair cover story, Teyana Taylor spoke about whether she remains friends with Kanye West despite his controversial actions in recent years, including his anti-Semitic comments and his 2020 presidential bid.
“I don’t have to agree with everything he does or says, but I’m not going to abandon him and say, ‘Oh, that son of a bitch,'” she told the magazine.
The “One Battle After Another” star further added, “My brothers are doing things that I don’t agree with…I’m not going to get involved in any of that.”
Taylor has worked with West on multiple projects in the past. The singer and actor became widely known for her empty gym dance routine in the 2016 “Fade” music video. She also collaborated on West’s 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, particularly singing on the opening track’s hook.
In 2022, a few weeks after promoting a “White Lives Matter” shirt at a Paris Fashion Week show, West posted on X that he was going to do a “Descon 3 against Jews.” Adidas, Universal Music Group, Balenciaga and other major partners have since cut ties with him. Despite the backlash, the rapper continued to share anti-Semitic rants in the years that followed. In one post from 2025, he declared, “I’m a Nazi” and referred to Hitler as “so refreshing.”
Meanwhile, Taylor shifted her focus to her acting career, landing her breakthrough role in the 2023 indie film A Thousand and One. This year, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Paphidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
