Chris Noth took to Instagram on Wednesday to calm down the furor over comments he posted that appeared to support fan criticism of his former “Sex and the City” co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
“It appears that my random, slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet has caused a huge uproar in the teapot,” North wrote. “This is not news. It’s not worth discussing this much. It’s a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
North’s drama began on January 9, when she posted a gym selfie with the caption: “New Years are shit – let’s go!!!” The fan then referenced Parker winning the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes and replied, “You mean SJP and her award, right? lol.” To that comment, North responded, “That’s right.”
In December 2021, North was accused of sexual assault by two women. Zoe, a member of the entertainment industry, told The Hollywood Reporter under a pseudonym that North assaulted her in Los Angeles in 2004. Lilly, who describes herself as a journalist, told the outlet that North assaulted her in New York City in 2015. Noss said in a prepared statement that the allegations are “completely false.”
Following the allegations, North was dropped from The Equalizer and the Sex and the City sequel series, And Just Like That. Parker and his Sex and the City co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis said in a joint statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the allegations against Chris Noth. We stand with the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know this is an extremely difficult thing to do, and we commend them for their work.”
