Amazon Prime Video has picked up the animated comedy series “Odd Jobs,” Variety reported.
The series is from co-creators Mike McMahan and Dominic Dierkes. The series’ logline reads, “The year is 2127, and the world is an extreme hellscape of late capitalism. The show follows a team of reluctant gig workers as they travel through the New Midwest and complete the strangest and most dangerous tasks required by the ODD JOBS app.”
McMahan and Dierks will serve as executive producers on “Odd Jobs.” Chris Plinoski, Shannon Plinoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Karina will serve as executive producers from animation studio Titmouse. Produced by CBS Studios.
“While wandering in the wilderness, they accidentally stumbled upon a portal and found themselves hundreds of years in the future,” McMahan and Dierkes said. “We’ve witnessed strange and grotesque portents of where humanity is headed, and rather than act on those warnings, we’re excited to turn them into an animated show.”
McMahan and Dierks most recently collaborated on Hulu’s animated comedy Solar Opposite, which ended in October 2025 after six seasons. McMahan also co-created the series, with Dierks serving as writer and ultimately executive producer.
McMahan is also known as the creator of the CBS Studios/Paramount+ series “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” which aired for five seasons, and the hit Adult Swim series “Rick and Morty.” In 2024, it was announced that McMahan and Joe Chandler were co-producing an animated series for Comedy Central based on the video game Golden Ax.
“‘Odd Jobs’ is sharp, absurd, and laugh-out-loud funny, an imaginative depiction of a future that is as chaotic as it is funny,” said Melissa Wolfe, Head of Animation at Amazon MGM Studios. “Mike and Dominic have built a bold, unpredictable world full of hilarious characters, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with CBS Studios and Titmouse to bring this new comedy to Prime Video viewers around the world.”
In addition to “Solar Opposites,” Dierks has written scripts for shows such as “The Mick,” “Workaholics,” “Ash vs. Evil Dead” and “Unstable.” As an actor, Dierks has appeared in projects such as “Mystery Team,” “Community,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Mad Men.”
McMahan is repped by Mosaic and Yorn Levine Burns. Dielkes is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment and Ginsburg Daniels Caris.
