Celine Dion is looking back on the days she spent with her late husband René Angélil.
On Wednesday, January 14, the 57-year-old “Because You Loved Me” singer commemorated the 10th anniversary of Angelil’s death, whom she married in 1994, with a touching tribute to him on Instagram.
Dion posted a photo of a sunlit portrait of Angelil, who died of throat cancer in 2016, above a piano in a carpeted room.
“I’m so sorry, 10 years without you feels like just a day, yet every day feels like 10 years,” she captioned a joint statement with son René Charles, 24, and twins Nelson and Eddie, 15.
“Even though I haven’t had your caress in 10 years, I still feel your touch every day,” the note continued. “We miss you, but you taught us to be strong.”
“We love you more every day and every year,” the statement concluded.
Dion and Angelil first met when she was 12 years old when she auditioned for a position as a musician and talent manager. The two went on their first official date when she was 19 and waited to make their relationship public until they got engaged in 1993.
The two married on December 17, 1994 in a lavish ceremony at Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal.
René Charles was born in January 2001 and his parents welcomed Nelson and Eddie in May 2010.
Angelil passed away from throat cancer on January 14, 2016, two days before his 74th birthday. “Rene Angélil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle with cancer,” his representative said in a statement at the time. “The family asks that their privacy be respected at this time.”

In January 2025, Dion paid tribute to Angelil on his 83rd birthday. “Today is your birthday, but the date doesn’t matter, because there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t celebrate life with you,” she wrote, along with a black-and-white photo of her then-deceased husband.
She added, “You are a part of us every day in the memories we cherish.”
Dion’s post concluded: “We hear your voice, see your gestures, and worship your spirit as we look at the years of photos and videos that have kept you alive.” “We will always celebrate you. Happy birthday, René, Notre Amour.”
