CJ ENM expands reach in Latin America with Spanish-dubbed Korean drama

Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM is strengthening its Latin American strategy by preparing Spanish-language versions of two upcoming Korean dramas, aiming to strengthen audience connections through localized content distribution.

The company will release dubbed versions of the TVING original “The Practical Guide to Love” distributed by CJ ENM and Studio Dragon’s “Our Universe” as part of its efforts to make premium Korean content more accessible to Spanish-speaking viewers across the region.

Produced by SLL, “The Practical Guide to Love” is a romantic comedy starring Han Ji-min and Park Sung-hoon that centers on Seo Eui-young, a single woman navigating the blind date scene. The series follows her entanglements with two contrasting suitors: the quietly sincere Tae-seob (Park) and the playfully outspoken Ji-soo (Lee Ki-taek). The show explores her emotional journey while considering different romantic prospects.

The series, written by Lee Yi-jin and directed by Lee Je-hoon (“Run On”), is positioned as a relatable romantic comedy with universal themes.

“Our Universe” takes a different approach, combining elements of romantic comedy and youth. In Studio Dragon’s production, Noh Jung Eui and Bae In Hyuk play future stepparents Hyun Jin and Tae Hyun, who initially clash, but due to a tragedy, they end up jointly guardianship of their orphaned niece Woo Joo. The series tracks their evolution from antagonists to co-parents to potential romantic partners.

The show, written by Sujin and helmed by director Lee Hyun-seok, depicts a central relationship with themes of responsibility and personal growth.

“With these new titles, we are excited to connect with Latin American audiences through localized stories that resonate around the world through Spanish dubbing, enhancing accessibility and the overall viewing experience,” said Sebastian Kim, Head of Content Distribution Business Unit at CJ ENM.

The Spanish dubbing initiative represents CJ ENM’s continued investment in the Latin American market, where Korean content has gained significant attention in recent years. The company previously secured a prime-time K-drama slot on Mexico’s Imagen TV in April 2025, making it the first dedicated Korean drama slot on Mexican television. The strategy, announced ahead of Content Americas 2026, prioritizes rapid localization to minimize the gap between Korean release and local availability.

Both series will be quickly rolled out regionally once the dubbing is complete.
