After the 33-year-old musician was spotted stepping out during the 2026 Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Sunday, January 11, he got candid with fans about what happened.

After the clip went viral online, he responded to a repost of X in which a fan account said “social anxiety has cornered him.”
Jonas said the fans’ guesses were correct. “Yeah… it hit me like a gut punch,” he wrote about his latest single, “Gut Punch.”
“Hit me like a gut punch, I hurt my feelings,” he sings in the song’s chorus. “How did I get so good at being mean to myself? / I should turn down the heat and tell myself to calm down / Damn, I really hate the way I talk to myself.”
In the comments section, fans praised Jonas for speaking candidly about how he felt on Sunday.

Another agreed, adding: “It’s okay! Sometimes we all feel great.”
Jonas, who has type 1 diabetes, has often been vocal about his mental health. In addition to his recent single, he previously told PEOPLE in 2021 that “the mental and emotional health side of diabetes is very important.”
“I’m definitely talking to a therapist…and luckily I have a really good support system and great doctors around me,” he said. “What we need to recognize is the mental and emotional impact this disease has not only on the person affected but also on their friends, family and loved ones.”

Ahead of the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, Jonas filmed a GRWM (Get Ready With Me) video in which he wore a black Berluti pinstripe tuxedo and accessorized with a Fossil watch.
He attended the event with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and shot a flirty dance video together.

According to WWD, Chopra Jonas, 43, wore a custom strapless navy blue dress by Dior to the 2026 Golden Globe Awards. She paired this look with black Roger Vivier heels and Bvlgari jewelry. She, along with rapper Lisa, presented “The Pit” star Noah Wyle with the award for Best Male Actor in a Television Series or Drama.
