Matt Damon’s wife Luciana had her eye on Ben Affleck after watching Good Will Hunting long before the couple met.
Matt, 55, recalled some funny memories from his appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show with Affleck, 53, on Monday, January 12, to promote their new Netflix movie The Rip.
After host Howard Stern asked if Affleck was there on Matt and Luciana’s night, Matt prefaced the conversation by saying, “This is absolutely true.” 49 years old, we first met in 2003. “After we had been together for a little while, maybe a few months, she admitted, “I think I met her best friend from high school, and it turns out we went to see Good Will Hunting together. And her best friend thought I was cute, and she thought Ben was cute.”
“And then she admitted it to me…I was like, ‘Did I make a mistake?'” Matt added. “She told me that 23 years ago.”
When Stern, 72, asked Matt if the idea that Luciana once thought Affleck was cute “still exists,” Affleck interjected to say that he, Matt and Luciana now work together as well. She is a producer on both Affleck’s next films, The Rip and Animals. “She’s a great producer and a really good friend. Yeah, I’ve never gotten that vibe from her,” Affleck joked, making Damon and Stern laugh. “So I think it was influenced by what I did in real life.”

“Finally she met him and everything went away,” Damon added.
Matt and Luciana, who married in December 2005, met in Miami in 2003 while Matt was filming the movie Stuck on You. The couple have four girls: Alexia (25), Isabella (19), Gia (17) and Stella (15).
During an interview on Sirius “I couldn’t remember who I was with, because all I could remember was her,” he said.
“He knows why he’s a good husband, because he’s like, ‘All I see is her,’ and I’m like, ‘But you got hit too, so it’s kind of vague,'” Affleck joked. “But he’s smart enough not to say that.”

Although Affleck wasn’t there the night Matt and Luciana first met, he said, “I’ve witnessed so many beautiful and loving things from them in that time.” “This is a really great marriage, a friendship, two people who are each other’s partners, even though they’re apart and independent of each other,” he said. “I didn’t see it on the first day, but I feel like it’s getting better.”
Affleck also joked that he should “ask Lucy for her friend’s number” to bring Tangled full circle as the segment ended. “She’s married,” Damon answered. “I just thought it was a funny joke and I can’t stand it,” Affleck added. “The story of my life.”
Damon and Affleck’s new movie, The Rip, will be available on Netflix starting January 16th.
