Yes, Julia Roberts has read the script for her upcoming movie Ocean’s 14 and was “surprised” by how well it turned out, she told Variety’s Marc Malkin on Amazon Fire TV’s Golden Globes pre-show.
“Yes, I’ve seen the script,” Roberts told Malkin when asked about the project. “So I was kind of taken aback. I was like, ‘Oh, what’s this story going to be?'” And that’s a good thing. In other words, if it’s not good, I won’t do it. ”
The news comes months after Roberts’ co-star George Clooney said the fifth chapter of the series was likely to be filmed in 2026, with original stars Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Roberts set to return. Clooney also teased that Ocean’s 14 had an “amazing” script in 2023. Variety reports that David Leitch is in talks to direct the highly anticipated film.
“We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we’re in the middle of preparing it,” Clooney confirmed to E! news. “This is just a scheduling adjustment, just setting a start date. We’ll probably start shooting in nine or 10 months.”
The “Pretty Woman” actress first appeared on “Ocean’s 11” in 2001 as Danny Ocean’s (Clooney) ex-wife Tess Ocean. She reprized the role in Ocean’s Twelve in 2004.
At the Golden Globe Awards, Roberts was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama for her role as Alma Imhoff in Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt. She has previously received Golden Globe nominations for films such as “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “Notting Hill,” and “August: Osage County.” She won the Best Actress award at the event for her roles in “Erin Brockovich,” “Pretty Woman” and “Steel Magnolias.”
