Julia Roberts may have lost the category at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, but she still earned some love from the star-studded audience at the Beverly Hilton.
Roberts attended the award ceremony for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) on Sunday, January 11th in Beverly Hills, California. When Roberts took the stage, many in the audience rose to their feet and gave the Oscar-winning actress a standing ovation.
Roberts said “thank you” and teased the losers, telling them to stand up. “Yes, everyone! Let’s go! Back! Come on!”
She asked attendee Emma Stone to join in the ovation, joking: “She’s like, what the hell is going on right now?”

Roberts said of the warm tribute, “I will be out of work for at least a week, so I appreciate it.”
“What a great night. What a beautiful night for an artist,” Roberts reflected. “This is 2026. We’re going straight to the top on this.”

Ultimately, Mr. Roberts awarded the award to Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
Shortly after, Roberts’ frequent collaborator and longtime friend George Clooney presented the final award of the night, Best Motion Picture (Drama), and was politely teased by Don Cheadle for the lack of a standing ovation.
Roberts, 58, was nominated Sunday for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in After the Hunt, but ultimately lost out to Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley.
In Buckley’s acceptance speech, she fangirled over Roberts, telling the iconic actress, “Oh my god, I’m honored to be standing alongside these amazing women in this category. I mean, Julia Roberts, you’re like a hero to all of us.”
Roberts accompanied her husband Danny Moder to a night at the Globe Theater. While Roberts walked the carpet alone in a plunging black dress and red necklace, Moder posed for photos alongside his wife of more than 20 years.
