Patrick Mahomes knows he has to stay focused if his team hopes to make the NFL playoffs this year.
After a 31-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Nov. 27, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the 30-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback spoke to reporters about what it will take to get through this football season.
“We’ve got to win every game from now on, and I hope that’s enough,” Mahomes said after the loss, according to a report by ESPN.

He and his teammates are currently 6-6 and at risk of missing the playoffs for the first time since the father of three became the starting quarterback in 2018.
Mahomes and wife Brittany Mahomes, 30, have daughter Sterling Skye, 4, son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 3, and 10-month-old daughter Golden Ray, all of whom attended Thursday’s Thanksgiving game.
“We’re going to play a lot of good teams,” Mahomes continued, speaking to reporters about the loss.
The Chiefs will next face the Houston Texans on Sunday, December 7th, followed by the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, December 14th. Before the end of the year, the Chiefs will also face the Titans on December 21st, and 2025 will end on Christmas Day against the Denver Broncos.
2026 begins on January 4th with a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
“If we’re going to make the playoffs, we’ve got to win everything. That’s got to be our mindset when we come back and step into (the practice facility),” Mahomes said.
Since becoming the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018, the NFL star has not only led the team to the playoffs, but also won three of five Super Bowls starting in 2020.
“We proved we can beat anyone, but we can lose to anyone,” Mahomes continued. “We’ve got to be more consistent. We’ve had some big plays, we’ve had runs that could have scored at any time, but we’ve got to be consistent for four quarters, especially when you’re playing a good team and they have a good offense.”

He also told reporters that the team should have 10 days before the next game to “get some guys back and healthy.”
Before the loss, Mahomes’ teammate, close friend and business partner Travis Kelce said he had full faith in the quarterback’s ability to lead.

Kelce, 36, told reporters on video after the Chiefs defeated the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 on Sunday, Nov. 23.
The tight end concluded, “He’s going to lead us to wins. It’s awesome.”
