Love Island host Maya Jama has partnered with social enterprise Creative Access to launch a new mentorship program for marginalized women in the UK’s creative industries.

The six-month program connects eight budding creators with powerful mentors from Jama’s unique professional network who provide guidance, insight, and support in areas such as television production, broadcasting, fashion, communications, marketing, talent management, and more. The program is aimed at women in the UK who are in the early stages of their careers and live in underserved areas, and includes visits to schools in London and events for early career professionals.

The eight mentors in Jama’s program include broadcaster and entrepreneur Julie Adenuga; Janine Fernandes, Coty Vice President of Global Brand Marketing. Issy Lloyd, Director of Entertainment, Insanity Talent Management. ITV Reality and Entertainment Commissioning Editor Amanda Stavri. Francesca Hayward, Senior Manager, Culture and Entertainment, Diageo. Carol Baffour-Auer, freelance comedy executive producer; Joe Ellison, HTSI editor, Financial Times. Priya Ahluwalia is a fashion designer and founder of the brand Ahluwalia.

“This mentorship program is something I have always wanted to do,” Jama said in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with Creative Access to connect talented young women with eight industry experts who will nurture and guide their careers.”

Creative Access Executive Chair Josie Dobrin said the organization is “proud to partner with the talented Maya Jama on this impactful mentorship program, which will be an important stepping stone for eight talented and aspiring creators.”

“It’s more important than ever that we work to upskill the next generation of diverse talent, and through mentorship in our flagship creative fields, eight women will have the support, guidance and access they need to thrive. Without programs like this, our industry risks losing the voices and visions that shape our future,” Dawburn added.
