Antonio Banderas will be honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Turin Film Festival in Turin, Italy, where the Oscar-nominated actor will present a special screening of Pedro Almodovar’s 2019 semi-autobiographical drama “Pain and Glory.”

Banderas will receive Turin’s Stella della Mole Award on November 29th at the opening ceremony of the Italian event dedicated to independent films. As previously announced, the festival will open with David Frain’s afterlife romantic comedy “Eternity.”

Afterwards, a special screening of “Pain and Glory,” in which Banderas stars as Almodóvar’s alter ego and a director reflecting on his life and career, will be held in Turin. For “Pain and Glory,” Banderas won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

Torino praises Banderas’ long-standing collaboration with Almodovar. Her work also includes “The Labyrinth of Passion” (1982), “The Matador” (1986), “The Law of Desire” (1987), and “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” (1988), as well as acclaimed roles in Hollywood productions such as “Philadelphia” (1993) and “The Interview.” With the Vampire (1994) and Evita (1996), and recent films Official Competition (2021) and Baby Girl (2024).

“Antonio Banderas, shaped by Almodovar’s creative vision, was able to conquer Hollywood and embody the image of a complete actor,” said Giulio Base, artistic director of the Turin Film Festival. He went on to call Banderas “a performer of dizzying depth as well as a global sex symbol of his generation.”

Banderas will also appear in A24’s Anthony Bourdain biopic Tony and Trudie Styler’s Rose Baby.

The 43rd Torino Games will be held in the northern Italian city of Turin from November 21st to 29th.
