Joe Jonas shares his thoughts on Taylor Swift’s latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
“I’ve heard some of the stories,” Jonas, 36, told Esquire. “I think she’s obviously the biggest artist.”
Jonas praised Swift’s 12th studio album, adding, “I think it’s a good record. Everyone has an opinion on this album, but from what I’ve heard, it has some catchy melodies.”
“The Life of a Showgirl” aired Oct. 3 and reunited Shellback with reputed hitmaker Max Martin as producer.
Jonas famously dated Swift, 35, in the 2000s. After their split in 2008, fans of the 14-time Grammy Award winner speculated that a number of her hits from her Fearless and Speak Now days, from “Forever and Always” and “Mr. Perfectly Fine” to “Better Than Revenge,” were referring to Jonas.
After the breakup, Swift famously said on The Ellen Show, “It’s okay, I’m cool, you know? It’s like, if I ever find the right person, I’m gonna be great, and when I look at that person, I can’t even remember the boy I broke up with after 25 seconds on the phone when I was 18.”

Since then, Swift has become friends, especially with Jonas’ ex-wife Sophie Turner. In 2020, fans speculated that a line in Swift’s folklore song “invisible string” might be referring to Jonas, but this time it was only about their friendship. “For the boys who broke my heart, the cold was the perfect steel to sharpen the ax with. Now I’m sending presents to their babies,” Swift sings in the song.
Jonas and Turner, 29, divorced in September 2024. Jonas filed for dissolution of marriage with Turner on September 5, 2023. The filing claims that the “marriage between the parties has irretrievably broken down,” according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. A judge granted the divorce a year later. The former couple’s relationship began in 2016.

During the divorce proceedings, Swift opened up her New York City home to Turner and her daughters Willa and Delphine.

“Taylor has been my absolute hero this year,” the Do Revenge actress said in her June 2024 British Vogue cover story. “I’ve never been more grateful to her than I am to her because she took me and my kids and provided us with a home and a safe place.”
“She really has a heart of gold,” Turner added at the time.
