Kim Kardashian loves getting attention no matter where her hair is.
The 44-year-old multi-hyphenate mogul got candid about the public’s reaction to SKIMS’ most talked-about launch to date during an interview with E! News at Hulu’s All’s Fair premiere on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Los Angeles.
The fake hair micro-string thong, which “combines curly and straight fake hair in 12 different shade variations,” according to the SKIMS website, was conceived by the mother of four during a photoshoot, and its debut became an internet sensation.

“It was just a fun, silly idea,” Kardashian told the outlet in a red carpet interview. “But you know a lot of other guys have done it, like (John) Galliano.”
At the 2024 Maison Margiela Haute Couture runway show, the 64-year-old British fashion designer styled a model with Merkins, a synthetic hairpiece for the private parts.
“It was very funny,” Kardashian said.
“I’m shocked that it’s gotten so much attention,” the businessman continued. “We laughed and talked about it all day.”
The viral product, which comes in a variety of “nude” shades and synthetic hair textures, retails for $32 and has already sold out after its launch on Tuesday, October 14th. There’s currently a waiting list for the next batch of the brand’s most controversial panties.
SKIMS captioned the Instagram announcement on Tuesday, “Just Dropped: The Ultimate Bush.” “With our bold new faux hair panties, you can turn your carpet into any color you want.”
The ad parodied 1970s game shows and featured three models showing off the “daringest ever” SKIMS panties.
“I’m going to call 911,” one person commented. Another wrote: “How about more color variations in loungewear??”
The sold-out microstring thong is also becoming a hot topic among other brands.

“When it comes to confidence, fakes don’t cut it,” the brand said in the caption of its Instagram post.
Kardashian was a fan of the European Wax Center’s post, commenting: “Best reaction I’ve ever seen @europeanwax. Whoever came up with this should get a raise!” With clapping hands emoji.
