Paris Jackson received $65 million in benefits from her late father Michael Jackson’s estate, according to a new court filing.
The huge figure was revealed in a court filing on October 9 by Michael’s estate, after Paris, 27, said in a June filing that she was “concerned” about payments from her father’s estate.
In a new filing obtained by People magazine, Michael’s estate fired back.
“Few people benefited more from the executor’s business decisions than the appellants themselves, who received approximately $65 million in benefits from the estate administrator,” the filing alleges. “If the executors had followed the typical strategy of estates like this in July 2009, she never would have gotten that.”
The executors also credited themselves with turning the late King of Pop’s estate into a lucrative fortune.
“The executor’s business decisions have transformed a property that ‘started with nothing but debt and significant ongoing obligations’ into a $2 billion estate that is now ‘a powerhouse and force in the music business today,'” the filing states, according to the media.
In Paris’ June filing, also obtained by People magazine, she noted that the executor sought approval for $625,000 in payments to three law firms in 2018.
“These payments appear to consist, at least in part, of lavish gratuities given to already well-compensated attorneys,” the court documents allege in part.
Representatives for both Paris and Michael’s estate did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
A court filing filed by Michael’s estate in September also revealed that Michael’s sexual assault accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, are seeking $400 million in damages for the alleged abuse.
In a Sept. 15 filing obtained by Us Weekly, the executors said failure to pay attorneys’ fees would “severely destabilize the foundation,” and noted that the foundation would likely be unable to pursue Robson and Safechuck’s case.
“The estate will likely be forced to default on its debts… There are numerous depositions, discovery matters and other matters scheduled in the coming months, and (Robson and Safechuck) are seeking $400 million,” the document states.
“It would be disastrous if the Estate were to default in this matter,” the document continued.
Michael’s estate has repeatedly denied Robson and Safechuck’s sexual assault allegations, with a spokesperson for the estate repeating to Page Six in September, “There is no merit to the lawsuit and Michael is innocent.”
Amid a legal battle between Paris and the executors of her father’s estate, the model and her aunt Janet Jackson had a happy reunion at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
Paris hugged the pop icon while attending Tom Ford’s fashion show – despite long-standing rumors that the two were on bad terms.
