Diane Keaton’s former spin instructor has only the fondest memories with the late actress.
Adam Goldstein, who taught at a spin studio in Santa Monica, Calif., said he and the “Father of the Bride” star often chatted while he and his daughter took classes every Saturday morning from around 2014 to 2019.
Sadly, he has lost contact with his former client, who he described in an Instagram post as “one of the kindest, funniest, down-to-earth people I’ve ever met in my life.”
“She came to class early and stayed a little late. We always talked before and after class,” he exclusively told Page Six.
Goldstein said he didn’t remember what they talked about, other than that it was “just a funny, silly story.”
He remembered that they often talked “about the music we play in class.”
Once, when he burned a workout playlist to a CD for his class, Keaton was “beyond grateful that I did it for him…We had a very jovial relationship,” he recalls.
The fitness instructor also remembers the Oscar winner’s workout attire, which reflected her quirky style: hat, sunglasses, and pinstripe suit.
“That was the funniest part,” he laughed. “At first, I think we were all like, ‘Is she really going to take that class?'” And she did. That was the most interesting thing. ”
Goldstein notes that Keaton treats everyone with courtesy.
“It was a solid group of us on Saturday morning. She was so nice to all the staff and everyone else, the whole room knew Diane Keaton was there.”
On Sunday, Goldstein shared a sweet photo of himself mugging for the camera with Keaton pulling his nose and bunny ears on the back of his head.
The “Annie Hall” star died on Saturday at the age of 79.
Following the news of her unexpected death, loving tributes poured out on social media from colleagues including Steve Martin, Nancy Meyers, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn.
The cause of death has not been revealed, but close friends who saw her less than a month ago were shocked to see Keaton’s emaciated appearance.
“I was kind of surprised by her weight loss,” songwriter Carol Bayer Sager told People magazine.
“I just loved her. She was such a special person and she lit up a room with her energy. She was happy and cheerful and taking pictures of everything she saw. She was totally creative. She never stopped creating.”
Keaton’s health reportedly deteriorated rapidly in the months before his death.
The “Baby Boom” star leaves behind two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke.
