Andy Cohen called Dr. Wendy Osefo a “great role model” in his first public comments on the arrest of Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband Edward “Eddie” Osefo on fraud charges.
“Like everyone, I learned of the allegations against Wendy Osefo and Eddie Osefo on Friday morning,” Cohen, 57, revealed on Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live.”
“There’s not much I can say. I don’t know any more about the indictment than any of you, any more than what I’ve read,” Bravo said.
Cohen called the legal situation surrounding the Real Housewives of Potomac star and her spouse, who have appeared on the reality show since Season 5 in 2020, “really sad.”
“I’m a fan of Wendy, and she was a great ‘housewife’ and a great role model,” Cohen said. “She always guided me with education and strong family values.”
Wendy, 41, has four degrees. She is a university professor and political commentator. Meanwhile, 40-year-old Eddie is a lawyer and entrepreneur. They have three young children together.
“My heart goes out to her and her family,” Cohen told listeners. “And I hope this isn’t a big deal.”
Wendy and Eddie were arrested Thursday and charged with numerous fraud charges. They spent the night in Maryland’s Carroll County Detention Center and were released the next day after posting bail totaling $100,000.
Wendy was indicted on 16 charges including seven felonies of insurance fraud, eight misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one misdemeanor count of making false statements to a police officer.
Eddie was indicted on 18 charges. He faces nine felony counts of insurance fraud, eight misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one misdemeanor count of making false statements to a police officer.
The charges stem from a home invasion the couple reported in April 2024, when they claimed a large quantity of Wendy’s jewelry and many of her designer bags, including several Hermès Birkins, were stolen while they were on a family vacation in Jamaica.
Eddie then allegedly filed insurance claims with two different insurance companies, with both he and Wendy signing statements claiming $450,000 in property damage and $2,500 in property damage.
During the investigation, authorities began to question the legitimacy of the robbery, pointing in part to the fact that Osefos’ security system did not detect any movement inside the residence.
Wendy was also photographed wearing one of the rings that was allegedly stolen shortly after the theft was reported.
Additionally, an investigation revealed that numerous items she and Eddie claimed were stolen had been returned with full refunds prior to the alleged robbery.
Authorities also discovered that the Osephus were “in significant debt” at the time.
Hours after their arrests made headlines, their representatives told Page Six in a statement:
“They appreciate the outpouring of concern and support from their friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos look forward to their day in court along with their defense team.”
The representative concluded, “We ask that you ensure your privacy so that you can focus on your family and the upcoming legal proceedings.”
Following this news, detectives noticed that Wendy and Eddie had mentioned Bonnie and Clyde on Instagram the day they reported the alleged robbery.
