Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry have been dating for the past four months.
Sources told The Sun newspaper that the former politician and Perry had been secretly dating since the beginning of the summer, after the pair were photographed kissing on a yacht.
“They haven’t been able to spend a lot of time together because she’s on tour, but they’re always in touch. They’re always FaceTiming and texting each other,” the source said, referring to Perry’s “Life Times” tour, which begins again Monday with European stops.
As for how their unlikely pairing came about, the source added that the former Canadian prime minister is “a bit of a nerd and can’t believe that someone as famous and attractive as Katie would be interested in him.”
Meanwhile, Perry said, “I’m honored that a respected politician would want to go on a date with my girlfriend.”
Rumors of a romance first surfaced in July when the “Dark Horse” singer, 40, and Trudeau, 53, were spotted walking in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park and then grabbing a bite to eat at Le Violon.
A source told US Sun at the time: “Justin has been single for a while and is enjoying getting to know his girlfriend.” Justin separated from his wife Sophie Trudeau in 2023.
“He likes her personality and they really enjoy talking about different topics. So far they have hit it off really well and are planning to meet up again soon.”
The source added: “He feels like talking to her and getting to know her has been a breath of fresh air in his life. He’s happy to have gotten to know her so well, and she appreciates him for being a normal, polite person who was very understanding of his recent separation from Orlando Bloom.”
“He’s not the kind of guy to rush things and she seems to really enjoy it. That’s the gentlemanly way to behave.”
Another source, who also worked closely with Justin, claimed that the two had been waiting to meet for “some time” and that Perrie agreed “right away.”
“He feels like a young adult again and is very excited about the process so far and is really enjoying getting to know her and talking about so many topics with her,” a second source explained.
“Justin is not an easy guy to ‘get’. Since he separated from his wife, many women have tried to date him.”
Shortly after, Justin and his 16-year-old daughter Ella Grace were spotted attending Perry’s sold-out ‘Life Times’ tour at Montreal’s Bell Center, further fueling the rumors.
After a source told People magazine that the two were “interested in each other” and “have a lot in common,” another report claimed that the pair had “cooled off” due to their busy schedules.
Those rumors were put to rest this weekend after photos surfaced of her making out with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
The photo was reportedly taken in late September by a tourist who “didn’t know who[Perry]was with until he saw the tattoo on the man’s arm…and then realized it was Justin Trudeau.”
Perry and Trudeau’s romance came on the heels of her split from Orlando Bloom, with whom she was together for nearly a decade. The couple have a daughter, Daisy Dove, 5.
Before Bloom, she was briefly married to controversial comedian Russell Brand.
Prime Minister Trudeau separated from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire, in 2023. In addition to Ella-Grace, the former couple also have sons Xavier, 17, and Hadrian, 11.
