“Three years ago, we met with families whose worlds were completely shattered. Parents who had lost children to social media were driven to suicide, and many who had lost children to battles with depression, anxiety and self-harm caused by online harm,” Meghan said in part of her speech.
“What we learned in this moment is that these parents not only need therapy, but they also need other parents who understand their specific grief. And when they come together, they’re not just sharing a story, they’re creating a movement,” she continued. “When they turned their grief into advocacy and energized their love in the fight for change, we made a huge impact. The power of this community is essential to protecting the mental health of children online.”
