Kevin Jonas’ wife, Danielle Jonas, was experiencing new symptoms and doctors initially thought it was due to anxiety, but after undergoing a biopsy they were diagnosed with Lyme disease.
In a new interview with Parents published on Thursday, October 9, Danielle, 39, got candid about her diagnosis and how it’s affected her daily life. After noticing that she was losing more hair than usual, she decided to see a doctor.
“They tried to tell me it was anxiety. Eventually, a biopsy revealed that I actually had Lyme disease,” Danielle told her parents.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Lyme disease is a disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium.Humans usually become infected with Lyme disease through the bite of a tick that carries the bacteria.”
“I also had eczema on my scalp, which I think was probably due to inflammation (from Lyme disease),” Daniel said. “Having my hair removed was very traumatic. It made me want to wear a wig.”

Due to increased hair loss, Daniel decided to get hair extensions installed. These pulled on her scalp, making her eczema more inflamed.
“I had to go out and do something with Kevin. I just wanted to be myself,” she told her parents. The couple married in 2009 at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York, and have daughters Alena, 11, and Valentina, 8.
Danielle explained that her experience with eczema helped prepare her to help her daughters with their skin disease again.
“They’ve seen everything I’ve been through, so the main thing I tell them[when my eczema flares up]is, ‘This is going to go away,'” Danielle told the magazine.

Eczema, a type of dermatitis, is a non-contagious skin disease that causes dry and itchy skin, according to the Cleveland Clinic. To avoid flare-ups, Danielle advises her daughters to keep their skincare routines simple.
“We needed to get Alena back a little bit. Besides her eczema, she’s always had other skin issues, so it was important to keep things clean for her,” Danielle revealed while mentioning two skincare trends. “And yet, when she gets angry, it’s because she wants to enjoy certain products. I just say to her, ‘So, do you want it to be inflamed or calming down? That way, she’ll get back on her feet.'”
