Alyssa Farrah Griffin is going to be a mom!
The View host revealed that she and husband Justin Griffin are now five months pregnant with their first child, a boy, after five rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF).
“Baby Griffin is on the way and we’re so excited but also scared,” she said in an interview with People magazine published Wednesday.
Alyssa, 36, is due to give birth in February and said, “It’s starting to feel very real.”
“We have two male dogs, so I’m really excited to be a mother to a boy, even if I’m the underdog at home,” she added elsewhere in the interview.
The TV personality explained that although she intended to have two children, she initially wanted a boy because she “always liked the idea of an older brother looking after the younger ones.”
Alyssa said of her pregnancy, “Last week I felt the baby kick for the first time. I immediately grabbed Justin’s hand and he felt it. I was like, ‘Oh my god, what’s going on?!'” It was like magic. ”
Justin, 37, agreed, telling the magazine: “I’ve always wanted to be a father.”
The couple, who married in November 2021, explained that they had been “ready to start a family” for three years and underwent five rounds of IVF before conceiving.
Alyssa told the magazine that she was also diagnosed with endometriosis during the process, making it difficult for her to conceive.
“I went undiagnosed my whole life until I started this process,” she said. “So that just adds to the complexity.”
Alyssa also announced the pregnancy news to her “View” co-hosts and viewers on Tuesday’s episode of the daytime show.
The political commentator echoed the conversation about embarrassing moments, saying that while he couldn’t pinpoint one thing, there were “moments that went viral.”
She then had producers cut a September 2023 clip when co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked her if she was pregnant.
At that time, Alyssa seemed shocked and shut down comments about the pregnancy.
After the video ended, Alyssa, who was rubbing her stomach, turned to Goldberg and asked: “So Whoopi, do you want to hear it again?”
The co-hosts screamed in excitement and rushed to hug Alyssa.
“I’m so glad I don’t have to hide anymore and can breathe!” she joked.
