Children’s mystery book from Robin Stevens’ “Most Most Ulladylike” bestselling series is adapted for television by Studiocanal.
Created by Stevens and written for television by Anna McCreeley (“Free Rain”, “Lady Grace Mystery”), the six-part series is accompanied by James Strong (“Broadchurch”, “Bates vs. Post Office”) as lead director.
Described as a blend of “Enola Holmes” and Agatha Christie, “Most Rude of Murder” is set in the 1930s and is a twisted murder mystery series centered around two rebellious teenage female detectives living in a boarding school.
The series is based on millions of copies of bestselling books published by Puffin in the UK (an imprint of Penguin Random House Children’s) and Simon & Schuster Books for young readers in the US. There are 12 books in the main series, and in addition to the three spinoff series, it has been translated into 21 languages, selling over 3.1 million copies worldwide.
“It’s always been my dream to bring Hazel and Daisy and that world to life on screen. I can’t think of a better partner to make that dream a reality. Strong films and television have an incredible crime pedigree. “I’m so proud to work with them, and with award-winning author Anna McCreeley, there’s so many personal passions within the team. I know that together we’re creating a version of “Murder most Ulladylike” that will please our fans and introduce my story to a vast new audience.” ”
Director Strong’s Strong Film + TV will be performing the EP alongside Matt Tome and Loretta Place. Studiocanal invested in the company in 2023. The series marks the first development under Stevens’ newly formed film and television production banner Ulladylike Productions.
“We are pleased to work together with the extremely talented Robin Stevens, Anna McCreeley and the strong film + TV team to make “Mids Most Ulladylike” come true.” “The book is a rare and exciting blend of twisted Agatha Christie-style whodunnits, women’s empowerment, and a shiny, ambitious environment. All centered around the rich and lovable portrayal of female friendship.
