Because Leighton Meester was booked and busy, she didn’t notice the latest one tied to her music project almost two years ago.
In an exclusive interview with People, the actress and singer, 39, admitted that she was unaware that two songs originally intended to be the unreleased 2009 pop album have recently been released on music streaming services.
“I hate to say it, but I don’t know exactly what happened,” says Meester.
“I had no idea about it, but I think contracts can go out randomly and get renewed on some streaming platforms.
“I was going on other things. The show came out this year, but I was working on it so I wasn’t really paying attention,” adds Meester.

In addition to various film and television roles, including one of the most iconic Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, Meester has released music over the years. For example, Robintic and “Your Love Drugs” and “Someone’s Love” won top 10 hits in the Billboard Hot 100 with Coblastership collaborations “Good Girls Go Bad.”
The mother of two then released several country songs for the 2010 film Country Strong. She starred alongside Gwynes Paltrow and Tim McGraw, and after a few years of leaving the music, she returned with a more folklace heartstring album.

In a recent interview with Bustle, Meester revealed why she decided to stop pursuing a career in pop music.
“I didn’t feel like I sang it well with those songs,” she told the outlet about making songs for a particular musical genre. “So I stopped singing that style of songwriting because when I sang it I really didn’t feel good. That was something I understood in my 20s.”

Now, Meester is excited for fans to listen to “body control” and “Your Lies Are Truth/Nearly Perfect”.
“I’m really happy that people can hear that,” the star, who partnered with Godiva for the new campaign, tells people.
“I enjoy making music and hopefully I’ll do it soon,” adds Meester. “I think you had, I think you’re a day job, so sometimes it’s going to be as often as I want, but I want to keep doing it.”
The actress recently starred in Good Cop/Bad Cop, a television series following the sister and brother detective team. She is set to appear in season 2, where she doesn’t want this.
Meester music allows for purchase and streaming. Season 2, which does not hope that this will premiere on October 23rd.
