Glenn Powell reveals that he auditioned for Sam Evans’ role in Glee, but eventually went to his best friend, Code Over Street.
Powell, 36, spoke about his casting on a recent episode of Therapuss podcast, saying, “One of my best peers in the world is Code Over Street. We both auditioned for Glee. We auditioned for the same role.”
The Hitman star explained that they met in acting class and was “in the waiting room at the same time” during the audition.
And while it reached the line, Evans’ role, which first appeared in season 2 of the hit Ryan Murphy series, went to Overstreet.

“And we went to Sam Evans’ wire and he got it,” Powell said on the podcast, adding that the two later became roommates.
“He’s still one of my best friends,” Powell said. “We were trying to become roommates, so he got on this crazy Glee and moved in together.
“It was the biggest show in the world,” he added. “I don’t think a lot of people remember that.”
Overstreet made his debut in teen comedy drama in 2010 when he was just 21 years old. The 36-year-old now tells people that the role is like “boot camp” for him, but “the best way.”
“I learned more than I learned from acting and singing classes,” he said in 2017.
“I couldn’t get that experience anywhere else,” he added. “I definitely sang in the studio every day and saw people who are great performers who come to our shows and definitely became a better singer.”
Glee ran a total of six seasons between 2009 and 2015.
Powell hasn’t gotten a role, but he’s been taking Hollywood into the storm, starring Top Gun: Maverick, who’s not you, and his new full series, Chad Powers.
