Kelly Clarkson gave viewers a glimpse of her healing journey after the death of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
The “American Idol” winner sat down with Lionel Richie to relieve his grief while discussing “true” his memoirs on Thursday’s talk show of the same name.
“I think a lot of people deal with grief in this other way, but I love to say, ‘sadness is a great teacher of the most important things,'” she told Richie, quoting from his book.
“And no matter how you deal with grief, it’s very different to everyone. But I think it’s very, very, very true.”
She went on to ask the current “American Idol” judge how he came to “understand it.”
“You can’t rehearse your grief, you can’t rehearse the loss of a mother, father or friend. You can’t rehearse it,” he continued, adding that Clarkson “stripped you with the waves.”
Richie, 76, continued. “What I’ve found is that when I get involved in the word unruly sadness, I let go. Even if I believe it, I look forward to really caring about it being the true self.
The former Commodore member then leapt out of his seat to Clarkson and shocked him by placing his hands on his forehead to do a “exorcism of sadness.”
“I feel soothed,” joked Clarkson.
Clarkson, 43, dropped another clue about her healing journey in August when she saw her stroll around Lax Airport wearing a Le Stelle (The Star) Tarot card pendant in a Sorellina gem.
A $20,000 pendant means hope, inspiration, positivity, renewal, healing and rejuvenation. According to the Jewelry brand site, The Star Card depicts a woman kneeling between the land, the sea and the stars.
“It serves as a reminder to maintain a new sense of hope during difficult times and your courage will be rewarded,” notes the jewelry brand on its website.
“There’s a sense of magic because she lets go of things that aren’t serving her to welcome her in a new peaceful chapter in life,” the explanation continues. “The ultimate message of the card is to dream big and open yourself up to new ideas and opportunities.”
Blackstock passed away in August at the age of 48 after a three-year private battle with melanoma.
Clarkson, who shares his daughter, River and son, Remington with his former talented manager, was married to Blackstock from October 2013 until March 2022 to object.
Before his death, the “for you” diva separated from her daytime talk show and her Las Vegas residency, helping to care for him on his last day.
At the time of his death, the “strong” hitmaker reportedly felt “devast” in his children.
“When she found out he was sick, she continued to protect him for them,” the source told people, adding that Clarkson “always tried to make things classy.”
“It was revealed earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well,” they continued. “She’s devastated for her children.”
