The Backstreet Boys’ “to the Millennium” residency was a summer concert event.
Fans flock to the Las Vegas spheres, lighting up AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dora and Brian Litrell on stage, playing classic hits we know and love. Tickets for the concert became a hot item the moment it was released in August, and when he spoke to AJ at the Iheart Radio Music Awards about the reception earlier this year, he was nothing but grateful.
“We really have the most loyal fans. We’ve been together for 32 years… Holy crap,” he said. “I hope no one goes and sets up a bar as they’re not redoing the biggest album or the biggest tour.”
They actually jumped over the bar. The residency was very successful, extending the stay, adding seven more shows between December 26th and January 3rd.

And although the band has sold out venues since the 90s, one thing has been revealed to me as I have seen concert footage on Tiktok. In addition to the five men in BSB, there is a sixth star worthy of credit for their success: Kevin Richardson’s epic smooth back ponytail.
Look, the man has had many great hair moments over the years. He cut it neatly, had a curtain bang, he put it in the bob and he had it in a braid. Unlike AJ who tried the colour, Kevin keeps his hair in a natural jet black fugh and loves it to fans with a dark, mystical vibe.
But over the past few years he has really focused on rock’s growth. And we decide that all “he looks like a majestic Jedi” or “he should be in the Matrix” or “Kevin’s hair is sparkling and looks better than mine.”
Of course, his bandmates picked up the infamous name of mane. And like the other set of brothers, they teased him about it.
On August 20th, the group jumped at Tiktok’s “throwing fit” trend, where on-screen text was “sorry, but I’m late (insert my name here) was throwing a fit.” The person in question then comes out in Sloma and shows off a wardrobe worth the wait.
For BSB, the perpetrator is Kevin, and he gave people what they wanted in his video. While the other blowjobs were waiting, the “Back to Your Mind” writer struts apologetically out of his dressing room, throwing the rest of his bandmates at a deadpan at a glance, whipping his half-half mane as he swooped onto the stage. “Daddy Kef is finally ready to take off…” The caption read. surely.
In another video posted by a fan who attended one of the shows, AJ teases Kevin during the show. “I had to pay for this,” he said. He then gestures into Kevin’s hair and says, “It’s a God’s gift.”
“It’s from my mom. I got it from my mom,” Kevin replies.
“This is from (the doctor) from Rodeo Drive, so we’ll go there,” AJ quips his implanted hair.
All of this is that Kevin Richardson is celebrating today’s 54th birthday, so I’d like to celebrate him being a godly favorite and ask him to drop his hair routine on behalf of his fans.
