Henry Cavill shared the update after being injured while filming the reboot of Chad Stahelsky’s “Highlander.”
Cavill took him to Instagram Wednesday to showcase his progress since his September injury. This delayed production of Amazon MGM until early 2026. The “Superman” star captioned his left leg still works with the boots, “It’s unbearable, it’s strong.”
Cavill has appeared in “The Highlander” along with Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Jimon Hunsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Max Chan. Stahelsky, who directed the “John Wick” film franchise, directed from the script by Michael Finch.
The “Highlander” remake has been in development for over 10 years. It was first announced at Summit Entertainment in 2009, with producer Neil H. Moritz at the forefront. Stahelski joined the project in 2016, and Cavill was attached as a star in 2021. Then earlier this year, the United Artist acquired the project from Lionsgate under the guidance of new chief Scott Stuber. Both Stuber and Mortiz are film producers, along with Nick Nesbitt, Josh Davis, Louise Rosner, and the production banner for Stahelski, and 87Eleven Entertainment.
Christopher Lambert and Sean Connally head the original 1986 Highlander. This sees the ancient clash of Scottish immortals as they reborn into modern Manhattan. The film was a box office flop with its first release, but achieved cult classic status with home videos, spawning sequels, television adaptations and spin-off novels.
Other upcoming projects from Cavill include Netflix’s “Enola Holmes 3,” Amazon MGM’s “Voltron,” and Lionsgate’s action thriller “In the Grey.”
