With the in-camera VFX taking Spain by storm, Spain is bulging into studio infrastructure to continue to attract international filming.
In one move, Pedralonga Studios, a joint venture between Galician Audiovisual Cluster (CLAG) and CoruñaU, is the largest billed virtual studio in Spain, and one of the most advanced virtual facilities in Europe, with Madrid Trade Fair Iberseriene and Platineeriene.
Located at Coruña’s Cidade Das Tic, CEI measures 28 meters (92 feet) height (92 feet) and boasts a 750 square meters (8,100 square feet) virtual soundstage with a semicircular LED screen that offers 4K resolution at a definition of 1.9 pixel pitch.
CEI’s technology is advancing in that it uses fully integrated and Pixotope 1.9 definition software. José Manuel Deus, managing director of Pedralonga estudio, spoke to the variety show at Iberseries & Platino Industrial. CEI said it would officially open the door on October 8th. Clients are checking commercials, features and TV series.
Occupies 2,000 square meters (21,500 square feet) of total space, the CEI is touted by the Coruna County Council and Clag and supported by the Spanish government through the Next Generation of the European Union Fund.
CEI is scheduled to open in 2026 and is operated by Pedralonga Estudios, a studio complex that exceeds 5,500 square meters (59,000 square feet) supported by Galician’s top Galician production company of the 10 audiovisual clusters in Galicia and ACoruñaU.
The new Pedralonga Studios facility will include two traditional soundstages: 2,500 square meters (26,900 square feet) and 2,000 square meters (21,500 square feet). The extra 1,500 square meters (16,150 square feet) will be featured by offices, dressings and changing rooms known as the “technical field.”

“In Galicia, we are lucky enough to have a very mature sector,” said Alfonso Blanco, president of Clag and head of Porto Cabo. “Its main strength is its diversity. There are companies that make mainstream films, the booming new Galician films, free broadcasting stations, audiovisuals of Vaca, Vazu, and television production houses that regularly produce for Porto Cabo. Income,” he added. “What were we lacking? Infrastructure.”
