The power suit attacks again.
Julia Roberts took home the classic on Wednesday and went out to “Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” wearing a charcoal grey power suit channeled with Giorgio Armani, who she wore for the 1990 Golden Globes.
The 57-year-old actress looked as refined as it was back then, sporting a double-breasted blazer with wide-legged pants and a tie decorated with eclectic collections.
In the style of Elizabeth Stewart, Roberts decorated an ensemble with menswear-inspired black-framed glasses and gold hoop earrings, replacing the vast ’90s curls with refined updo and side sweat bangs.
That look was a clear nod from her breakout era when Roberts, 22, joined Globe as the nominee for best supporting actress in her role in “Steel Magnolia,” and eventually brought home the trophy.
That night she wore an equally sharp grey suit that she bought from the late designer’s Rodeo Drive store, an ensemble called “One of my favourite outfits” in the 2024 “Life in Look” video.
“I did my hair, my girlfriend did my makeup… I don’t even know that people were wearing really flashy gowns on Golden Gloves like they do now, but I thought I was very extra in this outfit,” Roberts recalled in the video.
“I couldn’t know this would be like the outfit in the statement. I looked good and thought I still had that suit.”
The Powersuit moment comes in a different tailor look just days after Roberts attended the North American premiere of “After the Hunt” last week.
On the red carpet, co-stars Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebili rave about Roberts’ baking skills and spoke to a reporter on Page 6 about the best banana bread she’s brought.
“I don’t know, it’s in the first percentile,” surged the 29-year-old Edebili. Garfield, 42, cleaned up her, saying it looked like the “.5th percentile.”
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, the film marks the latest project of the Oscar winner.
