Jason Hiro Kim goes solo.
The producer and former manager has announced Hiro’s Omakase, a new indie production company that focuses on Japanese, Korean and American stories. This is a market that emerged through Japan and has been spent years building bridges by state-educated Korean executives.
Kim’s resume includes more than a decade of running talent at Lovett Management before jumping to produce alongside Kunal Naiyal in 2020. The Big Bang Theory alumni resided to help Kim run a great karma production. There, he oversees creatives for ten years, both scripted and unscripted fares. The Good Karma pipeline includes the Nayyar-Starring series developed by Miramax.
With Kim’s exit, Good Karma has taken Logan Kovarick from head of development to VP. He monitors the company’s growing development roster.
Under Hiro’s Omakase Banner, Kim will continue to be obsessed with some projects, including the adaptation of “Angel Island: Migmigrant Gateway” by Erika Lee and Judy Yung. He also supports Broadway bows for “The Lost Boys” and has placed a bet on the untitled ketchup entertainment feature.
“I am forever grateful to Kunar for an incredible labor partnership that lasted almost 20 years,” Kim said. “Now I’m focusing on this new venture, so I’ll continue to work together in a meaningful way.”
Nayyar added: “Jason has contributed to my career for most of the 20 years. It’s joy and admiration to praise him for his new venture. I will continue to find projects I will work on in the future.”
