Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson are reportedly reuniting in the Netflix documentary.
Members of One Direction are embarking on road trips across the US for the project, and are expected to discuss their memories of being with boy bands and late bandmate Liam Payne.
Filming has reportedly already begun, and the documentary is expected to be released next year.
Malik, 32, and Tomlinson, 33, have signed a multi-million-dollar deal with streamers to do the documentary, the outlet reports.
“This is a huge show for Netflix and is guaranteed to make the global military of 1D fans a frenzy,” a source told the outlet.
“And it’s likely that this will be an opportunity for serious soul searching and deep discussion on the amazing journey the group has already been going on since it was formed with The X Factor 15 years ago,” the source continued.
Reps for Malik and Tomlinson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Page 6.
One Direction, consisting of Malik, Tomlinson, Payne, Harry Styles and Neil Hollan, took an indefinite break in January 2016, but Malik left the band in early 2015.
Payne tragically passed away in October 2024 after falling from the third floor of his hotel room at the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The test results for toxicology later showed that he had a cocktail of drugs in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine, cracks, and benzodiazepines.
Malik, Tomlinson, Horan and Styles were emotionally reunited in the UK on November 20th for Payne’s funeral.
One Direction reportedly planned a comeback before Payne’s death at just 31 years old.
All five former members were “in discussions to hold a final reunion show” before Payne’s fatal fall on October 16th, sources told us Weekly.
Malik spoke about his negative experiences in one direction, including his song “Fuchsia Sea.”
Some of the lyrics include, “Because I worked so hard in a white band, they were still laughing at Asians.”
One Direction was formed in 2010 with “The X Factor.” They auditioned separately, but were put together by judges of Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.
All five members ultimately pursued a solo career, and were most successful in their 31-year-old style. He won the coveted Album of the Year Grammy in 2023 for “Harry’s House.”
