Ultimately, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman had a different perspective when it came to supporting each other’s careers, sources tell people.
The couple got married in 2006, and when their two daughters were younger in Sunday and Faith (ages 17 and 14), Kidman “was everything about them.” Eventually, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning actress producer went back to work completely.
A source nearby the family says Kidman “has really thrived to work again. She feels very happy when she is surprised to see her career again.”
“Now when they’re older, I love seeing their mothers work (Sundays and Faith) and they’re very supportive of their mothers,” the source says. But for country singer Urban, “it was the opposite,” the source adds.
“Keith was used to her supporting his career. He wasn’t as supportive as she wanted.”
Reps for Urban and Kidman did not respond to people’s requests for comment.

Kidman filmed Practical Magic 2 in Sandra Bullock a few weeks before her split news. She has four other upcoming TV shows, but has returned to the recently announced season 3 of Big Little Lies. Urban is taking part in his High and Alive World Tour this year with more dates scheduled for until August 2026.
On Tuesday, September 30th, Kidman officially filed for divorce from Urban in Nashville, citing the irreconcilable differences.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told people on Monday when news of their separation broke. “She has fought to save her marriage.”
In an interview with CBS News in December 2024, Kidman said in her acting that after welcoming her daughter to the Urban Sunday, she thought, “I’ve done most of it now.” Her mother, who passed away in September 2024, gave her advice that changed her mind.

The estranged couple previously spoke about their busy schedules and juggling their family life.
In April 2024, Kidman spoke to people about her “good” support system at the time.
She told Harper’s Bazaar in 2018 that she and Urban are “are pretty strict about the boundaries of what we allow when it comes to our work in our home.”
