Glenn Powell recently appeared on Jake Shane’s “Therapas” podcast, detailing a nasty encounter at a Hollywood party when asked to take a photo with the cancelled actor. Powell, who is currently promoting his Hulu comedy series “Chad Powers” and Paramount’s upcoming action film “The Running Man,” has not named him a celebrity.
“I was at the party, but there was basically someone (there) on the ropes in that they were cancelled,” explained Powell. “It was one of those Hollywood parties like there were cameras and presses and so on. This guy made some of my favorite movies. He showed up and said, ‘Nice to meet you.’ I was like, “Oh, that big fan.” The photographer then said, “Hey, can I take a picture of you guys?” ”
“This person was recently cancelled and it wasn’t good,” Powell continued. “I was a fan of their work, but not a fan of their choice. So I was a bit of a nice guy. But when they wanted to take a photo with you, I realized very quickly – I’m ‘Oh, I don’t know if this is a good idea or not,” he clearly said, ‘Oh, this isn’t a good idea.’ And I realized this guy, his face, was going out into the world.
The story has made Powell more general comments about Hollywood’s cancellation culture. He even drew a connection with “Chad Powers.” Chad Powers stars Powell as a cancelled quarterback and finds red by disguising himself as another person on the new team.
“Lass Holiday is the man who made a mistake, and he’s not the bad guy,” Powell said of his personality. “Some of these other people being cancelled should lie to where they were shot… With today’s day and age, canceling culture is something that will keep you from forgetting your mistakes. “Sorry” is truly beautiful. ”
“Chad Powers” will debut on Hulu on September 30th. Watch Powell’s complete “Serapas” interview in the video below.
