Since debuting as the most-streamed limited series in FX history, “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” has continued to be a hit.
The series recently surpassed 65 million hours of streaming on Hulu and Disney+. This total, as measured by Disney, refers to the total number of viewers worldwide to date, with Disney noting that 40% of the show’s viewers come from outside the United States.
The March 26 finale, titled “Exploration and Recovery,” was the most-watched episode of the series. Disney did not reveal exact viewing numbers for this episode, but said it was up 20% from the penultimate episode and 90% from the premiere. (Episodes were compared based on their respective streaming start date totals.)
The growing popularity of “Love Story” over its run also continues to draw new viewers to its premiere, which has surpassed 14 million views to date on FX, Hulu and Disney+. The social media buzz is huge, with Disney boasting that TikTok searches for both John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette have increased 9,100% in the last month, and that #lovestory has generated tens of millions of posts worldwide. The series’ cultural influence is also evident in the brands and companies portrayed on the show. New York City soap and cosmetics brand CO Bigelow recorded its highest-grossing accessory ever thanks to a headband worn by Bessette, and Indian restaurant Panna II Garden saw a 40% increase in bookings after the series premiere, which showed Kennedy and Bessette dining on a date.
“Love Story” stars Paul Anthony Kelly as Kennedy and Sarah Pidgeon as Bessette. Also starring Grace Gummer, Naomi Watts, Alessandro Nivola, Leila George, Sidney Lemmon and Constance Zimmer. The series is created by Connor Hines, who serves as executive producer along with Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Erik Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, DV DeVincentis, and Tanase Popa. Max Winkler served as executive producer and director of the pilot episode. TV number 20 is the studio.
